My specs power is -4.75 D and -4.25 D and -1 cylindrical in both eyes. I have been wearing specs since 6th Std. I got the Contoura Vision surgery done at AIIMS, Delhi on 1st March 2021 and I was able to resume work the next day itself. This article briefly shares important information about the surgery at AIIMS, however if you have already made up your mind for the surgery, then check this detailed article.

Vision clarity is better than it was with specs, now I don’t have to turn my face to see the characters properly! Side effects, Dry eyes issue has gone.
Glare is felt when looking at lights at night only when my eyes are very tired, but with that too, I don’t face any issue driving or doing any work, it’s a mild nuance.
Tired of wearing a mask with foggy glasses? Specs removal surgery can help. I recommend that people with stable specs power, get this treatment done.

Thank you so much for such a detailed information. It was very much needed as I was considering it getting done from a different center.
Could you please tell me if we have to visit hospital after surgery too? Like followup etc?
Also why contoura is cheaper compared to Smile surgery as contoura is the latest one?
Contoura charges are more in private center ranging from 90k to 1 lac.

Good to know that it was helpful to you Sonam.
Yes, follow-up schedule: Next day, Next Week, Next Month, 3 Months later, 6 months later, and 12 months later from the previous visit.
Followups can be done at other hospitals also I believe.
Contoura is cheaper than SMILE only at AIIMS. I don’t know why, if I have to guess then that is because Countoura required 1 additional piece of equipment (topolyzer) over Lasik and that is not that expensive equipment and AIIMS doesn’t want to capitalize on new technology.

Hi Priyank,
Thanks for the detailed experience. I have my SMILE surgery scheduled under the same unit-III, for next week but I’m having some last minute thoughts. The junior residents suggested me only SMILE and didn’t mention about Contoura. Who performs the surgery? Is it Dr J.S. Titiyal himself and what all precautions were you asked to take post the procedure?
Did you face any side effects such as Halo, dry eyes etc.?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Priyank,
Thanks for the fantastic post. I wanted to know if the surgery happened with local anaesthesia. Did you feel any pain during the process?
LikeLike
Hi Mukesh thanks for the loving appreciation,
Yes local anesthetic drops were put on the eyes constantly every 1-2 mins as much as I can remember. Felt pain during two-three moments but it was like I am under experienced hands, so this will be fine.

Hello Priyank
I have also gone through LASIK from AIIMS-Delhi, It has been 1 month but my left eye is having quite blurr vision, is it normal, will it take time, or serious issue, can u tell, bcoz there is protest going on in AIIMS Delhi due to Dr. safety cases, but my right eye is better than left, means left as compare to right, left is quite blurr, will it take more time to heal, is question.
Thank you
